WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                      Liturgist

PRELUDE

OPENING SENTENCES (Responsive)                                                                                         Liturgist

Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of God’s name; give God glorious praise.
Say to God:
How awesome are your deeds!
Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name.
Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds among mortals.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have understanding.  God’s praise endures forever.

HYMN #482 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

CONFESSION AND PARDON (Responsive)                                                                          Liturgist

God promises mercy for all those who repent. Trusting in the grace of Jesus Christ, let us confess our sin.

Compassionate Christ, you send us to cure the sick, but we blame the sick for their choices.  You ask us to restore the unclean, but we separate them into high-risk pools.
You compel us to raise the dead, but we insist some are beyond help. In your patient and persistent mercy, forgive us, O Lord.  Teach us to heal without condition and help without limitation.  Enable us to love one another as you love us, that as recipients of unmerited grace, we may freely shower care upon all people.

SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION MAY BE OFFERED

In the name of the One who restores the lost, raises the dead, and reigns on high,
I proclaim to you that your sins are forgiven.  Believe the good news of the gospel:

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed, and made whole.

JOYS AND CONCERNS

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Trusting in the power of God to deliver us, let us make our prayers of intercession for all,

saying: God our Savior, hear our prayer.

We pray for the church . . .  Help us to bear witness to the gospel: the saving power of Christ at work among us and in all the world.

God our Savior, hear our prayer.

We pray for the world . . . Be mindful of your gracious covenant.  Feed the hungry and redeem the captives.  Establish justice and righteousness on earth.

God our Savior, hear our prayer.

We pray for this community . . .  Let us build houses and live in them, plant gardens and eat what they produce, and seek the welfare of this place.

God our Savior, hear our prayer.

We pray for loved ones . . .  Heal those who are isolated by illness and restore them to our community, so that we may give thanks together.

God our Savior, hear our prayer.

Merciful and mighty God, as you are one, make us one with you through Jesus Christ,

whom you have sent to redeem us, and in whose holy name we pray. Amen.

INVITATION TO THE OFFERING (Offering plates are not passed.  Offering plates are o n the front and back tables.)

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to present yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Let us offer our lives to the Lord.

Prayer of Dedication (Unison)

We give you thanks and praise, O God, for you have chosen the poverty of the world
to make your people rich in faith.  Help us to put our faith into practice through the offering of our lives— giving food to the hungry, clothes to the naked, and shelter to the poor; all for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, your Word made flesh. Amen.

HYMN #422 God, Whose Giving Knows No Ending

BLESSING AND CHARGE

At the doors of the church: The Lord bless and keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. Alleluia!
Psalm 121:8

Proclaim the message, be persistent in prayer, do the work of the gospel, and carry out the ministry of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
